Hadith 11:84
Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from 'Amr ibn Murrah, from Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd, from Shurahbil ibn al-Simt, who said: We said to Ka'b ibn Murrah, "Narrate to us, O Ka'b, from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and be cautious." He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) say: "Whoever reaches the enemy with an arrow, Allah will raise him a degree because of it." 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Umm al-Hakam said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, and what is the degree?" He said: "As for the degree, it is not the threshold of your mother, but the distance between the two degrees is one hundred years." Then we said, "O Ka'b, narrate to us from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and be cautious." He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) say: "Whoever grows a grey hair in the path of Allah, it will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever shoots an arrow in the path of Allah, it is as if he has freed a slave."
حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن عمرو بن مرة عن سالم بن أبي الجعد عن شرحبيل بن السمط قال قلنا لكعب بن مرة حدثنا يا كعب عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم واحذر فقال سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول ارموا من بلغ العدو بسهم رفعه الله به درجة فقال له عبد الرحمن بن أم الحكم يا رسول الله وما الدرجة قال اما الدرجة أما إنها ليست بعتبة أمك ولكن ما بين الدرجتين مائة عام ثم قلنا يا كعب حدثنا عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم واحذر قال سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من شاب في سبيل الله شيبة كانت له نورا يوم القيامة ومن رمى بسهم في سبيل الله كان كمن أعتق رقبة
