Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 20:5

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Firas, from al-Sha’bi, from Masruq, from Abdullah, that he was asked about a man who married a woman, then died before consummating the marriage with her and without setting a dowry for her. Abdullah said: "She is entitled to the dowry, she is entitled to the inheritance, and she must observe the waiting period (idda)." Ma’qil ibn Sinan then said: "I witnessed the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, judge in the case of Birwa’ bint Washiq with the same [ruling]."
