Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 20:73

'Affan narrated to us, he said: Hammam narrated to us, he said: Qatadah narrated to us, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: The husband of Barirah was a black slave called Mughith. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, issued four rulings regarding her. He ruled that her masters had stipulated the right of inheritance (wala'), so he ruled that the right of inheritance belongs to the one who paid the price. He gave her the choice (to remain married or separate), and he ordered her to observe the waiting period ('iddah). And charity was given to her, so she gifted some of it to 'Aishah. She mentioned that to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and he said: "It is charity for her, and a gift for us."
