Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 9:1029

Mu'awiyah ibn Hisham narrated to us, from Sufyan al-Thawri, who said: I heard Sa'id ibn Jubayr saying: There were prostitutes in Mecca before Islam, and men would marry them, and they would spend upon them what they had earned. When Islam came, men from the people of Islam married them, so the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade that for them.
