Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 9:1031

Shababa narrated to us, from Warqa’, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "The fornicator does not marry except a fornicatress," [he said]: They were known prostitutes in the Jahiliyyah, and it was said to them that this is forbidden. They wanted to marry them, so Allah forbade them from marrying them.
