Abu Khalid al-Ahmar narrated to us, from Dawud, from al-Sha'bi, that a man in Medina married a woman, but he did not specify a dowry for her, and he did not consummate the marriage with her. They said: "She has the inheritance, and she has no dowry." And Masruq said: "There shall be no inheritance until there is a dowry before it."
