Yunus ibn Muhammad narrated to us, he said: 'Abd al-Wahid ibn Ziyad narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us, from Dawud ibn al-Husayn, from Waqid ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, from Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "If one of you proposes to a woman, then if he is able to look at what invites him to marry her, let him do so." So I proposed to a young woman from Banu Salama, and I used to hide behind the palm-tree trunk until I looked at what invited me to marry her, and I married her.
