Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 9:1487

Hafs narrated to us, from Hajjaj, from Muhammad ibn Sulayman, from his uncle Sahl ibn Abi Hathma, from Muhammad ibn Maslama, who said: I proposed to a woman, so I began to hide for her until I looked at her in a palm grove of hers. It was said to me, "Do you do this while you are a companion of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace?" I said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: 'If Allah casts into the heart of one of you the proposal of a woman, there is no harm in him looking at her.'"
