Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 9:1605

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Humayd ibn Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from al-Mas'udi, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu al-Ahwas, from Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) taught us the sermon of prayer and the sermon of need. As for the sermon of prayer, it is the Tashahhud. As for the sermon of need, he said: "Praise be to Allah, we seek His help and we seek His forgiveness, and we seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our own selves. Whomever Allah guides, there is none to misguide him, and whomever He misguides, there is none to guide him. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His messenger." Then he recites three verses from the Book of Allah: "Fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims." "And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed, Allah is ever, over you, an Observer." "Fear Allah and speak a word of appropriate justice. He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins." Then you proceed to your need.
