Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 9:1609

Waki’ narrated to us, from Shu’bah, from Abu Bakr ibn Hafs, who said: I heard ‘Urwah ibn al-Zubayr saying: I proposed to Ibn ‘Umar for his daughter. He said: "O son of Abu ‘Abd Allah, it is for the people to marry. We praise Allah and send blessings upon the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and I have married you [to her] upon what Allah has commanded: either retention in kindness or release with goodness." Shu’bah said: I think he said: ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab married a man [to his daughter] while he was walking. Shu’bah said: Abu Bakr ibn Hafs said: I do not know who said "I think he said": ‘Urwah ibn al-Zubayr or Ibn ‘Umar.
