Ali ibn Mushir narrated to us, from al-Shaybani, from al-Sha’bi, who said: If a man disowns his child, he shall perform *li’an* (imprecation) upon the mother if she is alive. If she has died, he shall be flogged with the prescribed punishment (*hadd*), and the child shall be attached to him. If the child was from a concubine, he becomes a slave.
