Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 9:1712

Ibn Numayr narrated to us, from Hanzala, who said: I heard al-Qasim, and he was asked about seeking permission, so he said: Seek permission at every time of nakedness (awra). Then, it is [a matter of] circling [among you] after that.
