Hadith 9:1747
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: 'Abdah bin Sulayman narrated to us, from Hisham bin 'Urwah, from a man who narrated to him: That a woman asked her son to marry her off, but he disliked that. He went to 'Umar and mentioned that to him. He ('Umar) said: "Go, and when it is tomorrow, I will come to you." He said: So 'Umar came and spoke to her, and he did not say much. Then he took the hand of her son and said to him: "Marry her off. For by the One in Whose hand is the soul of 'Umar, if Hantamah bint Hisham—meaning 'Umar's own mother—had asked me to marry her off, I would have married her off." So the man married off his mother.
