Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 9:1748

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, he said: Hammad ibn Salamah informed us, from Thabit and Isma'il ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Talhah, that Abu Talhah proposed to Umm Sulaym. She said: "O Abu Talhah, do you not know that your god whom you worship is a piece of wood that grew from the earth, which a Habashi (Abyssinian) belonging to the family of so-and-so carved?" He said: "Yes." She said: "Then are you not ashamed of that? For if you accept Islam, I will not ask of you any dowry other than that, until I look [into it]." He said: So he went away, then he came and said: "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah." She said: "O Anas, stand up and marry Abu Talhah [to me]." So he married her to him.
