Hadith 9:257
'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, that Bashir ibn Ka'b recited this verse: "So walk among its slopes (manakibiha)." He then said to his slave girl, "If you know what its slopes are, you are free for the sake of Allah." She said, "Its slopes are its mountain paths." He slapped her face and desired his slave girl, so he began asking about that. Some of them commanded him [to keep her], and some of them forbade him, until he met Abu al-Darda' and mentioned that to him. He said, "Leave what makes you doubt for what does not make you doubt, for goodness is in tranquility, and evil is in doubt." So that was settled.
