Hadith 9:44
Mu'awiyah ibn Hisham narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from a man from the people of al-Jazirah, from Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz: That a man married a woman, and she had a guardian who was closer [in lineage] than him, in the passes of the Romans. So Umar annulled the marriage and said: "The guardian, or otherwise the Sultan."
حدثنا معاوية بن هشام قال حدثنا سفيان عن رجل من أهل الجزيرة عن عمر بن عبد العزيز أن رجلا تزوج امرأة ولها ولي هو أدنى منه بدروب الروم فرد عمر النكاح وقال الولي وإلا فالسلطان
