Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 9:589

Hafs narrated to us, from Ash'ath, from al-Hasan, from Umar, who said: The impotent man is granted a respite of one year. If he reaches her (i.e., consummates the marriage), then [it is well], and if not, they are separated.
