Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 9:705

Ibn Numayr narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Taymi, from Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman and Abu Umamah ibn Sahl, both of them from Abu Sa’id al-Khudri, who said: When we obtained the captives of Banu al-Mustaliq, we practiced *‘azl* (coitus interruptus) with them. He said: I stood over a slave girl in the market of Banu Qaynuqa’, and a man from the Jews passed by me and said: "What is this slave girl, O Abu Sa’id?" I said: "A slave girl of mine, I am selling her." He said: "Have you been having intercourse with her?" I said: "Yes." He said: "Perhaps you are selling her while there is a fetus of yours in her womb?" I said: "I used to practice *‘azl* with her." He said: "That is the minor female infanticide (*al-maw’udah al-sughra*)." He said: So I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and mentioned that to him. He said: "The Jews have lied, the Jews have lied."
