Hadith 9:74
Abu Khalid narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Ata, who said: If Abu Bakr invited her to a man, and she invited to another, he said: Her desire is followed if there is no harm in it. And if the one whom her father invited her to was deficient in the dowry, I fear that it might fall into her soul (i.e., she might become resentful). And if her father compelled her, then he has more right.
حدثنا أبو خالد عن بن جريج عن عطاء قال إن كان أبو البكر دعاها إلى رجل ودعت هي إلى آخر قال يتبع هواها إذا لم يكن به بأس وأن كان الذي دعاها إليه أبوها أساء في الصداق أخشى أن يقع في نفسها وإن أكرهها أبوها فهو أحق
