Hadith 14:173

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Rahim narrated to us, from Zakariya, from Amir, he said: Kharijah ibn al-Salt narrated to me that he came to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). When he returned, he passed by a mad Bedouin who was bound in iron. Some of them said: "Do you have anything with which to treat him? For your companion has come with goodness." So I performed *ruqyah* (incantation) upon him with the Mother of the Quran (Surah al-Fatiha) for three days, twice every day, and he was cured. They gave me one hundred sheep. When I arrived, I came to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and informed him. He said: "Did you say anything other than this?" I said: "No." He said: "Eat them, for by my life, if one were to eat by a false *ruqyah*, you have eaten by a true *ruqyah*."
