Hadith 14:181
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Mu'awiyah ibn Hisham narrated to us, he said: 'Ammar ibn Zurayq narrated to us, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Isa, from Umayyah ibn Hind, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amir ibn Rabi'ah, from his father, who said: I and Sahl ibn Hunayf went out seeking a place to bathe. We found a pool of water and a pond. One of us would be shy to bathe while another was looking at him, so he hid from me. When he saw that he had done so, he took off a cloak he was wearing made of wool, then entered the water. I looked at him, and his physique impressed me, so I struck him with an eye [i.e., gave him the evil eye]. He was seized by a convulsion while he was in the water. I called out to him, but he did not answer me. So I went to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and informed him of the news. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Stand up." He came to him, lifted his [Sahl's] leg, then poured water over him. When he came to him, he struck his chest, then said: "O Allah, remove its heat, its cold, and its pain." Then he said: "Stand up." So he stood up. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "If one of you sees in himself, or his wealth, or his brother what impresses him, let him pray for blessing, for the eye is real."
