Hadith 14:199
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ghundar narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from Muhammad bin 'Abd al-Rahman bin Sa'd bin Zurarah, that Sa'd bin Zurarah was afflicted with a pain in his throat called *al-dhabh* (quinsy). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "I shall certainly reach or I shall certainly fulfill an excuse regarding Abu Umamah." So he cauterized him with his hand, and he died. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "An evil death for the Jews; they say: 'Why did he not defend his companion?' And I possess no power for him, nor for myself, over anything."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا غندر عن شعبة عن محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن سعد بن زرارة أن سعد بن زرارة أخذه وجع في حلقه يقال له الذبح فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لأبلغن أو لأبلين في أبي أمامة عذرا فكواه بيده فمات فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ميتة سوء لليهود يقولون فهلا دفع عن صاحبه وما أملك له ولا لنفسي شيئا
