Hadith 14:209
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn Numayr narrated to us, he said: Mujalid narrated to us, from al-Sha’bi, from Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah, who said: A man among us suffered a severe illness, and the physicians said: "He will not recover except by cauterization." His family wanted to cauterize him, but some of them said: "No, until we ask the permission of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)." So they asked his permission, and he said: "No, until the man recovers." When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) saw him, he said: "Is this the companion of the Banu so-and-so?" They said: "Yes." The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) then said: "If this man had been cauterized, the people would have said: 'It was only the cauterization that cured him.'"
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا بن نمير قال حدثنا مجالد عن الشعبي عن جابر بن عبد الله قال اشتكى رجل منا شكوى شديدة فقال الأطباء لا يبرأ إلا بالكي فاراد أهله أن يكووه فقال بعضهم لا حتى نستأمر رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فاستأمروه فقال لا حتى يبرأ الرجل فلما رآه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال هذا صاحب بني فلان قالوا نعم فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إن هذا لو كوى قال الناس إنما أبرأه الكي
