Hadith 14:23
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn ‘Uyaynah narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from ‘Ubayd Allah, from Umm Qays bint Mihsan, she said: I entered upon the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) with a son of mine, and I had performed *dagh* (cauterization) upon him for *‘udhra* (tonsillitis/throat inflammation). He said: "Why do you *dagh* (cauterize) your children with this *‘ilaq* (throat treatment)? You should use this Indian incense (*al-‘ud al-hindi*), for in it are seven cures. It is to be administered nasally for *‘udhra* (tonsillitis), and it is to be administered orally for pleurisy (*dhat al-janb*)."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا بن عيينة عن الزهري عن عبيد الله عن أم قيس ابنة محصن قالت دخلت بابن لي على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وقد أعلقت عليه من العذرة فقال على ما تدغرن أولادكن بهذا العلاق عليكن بهذا العود الهندي فإن فيه سبعة أشفية يسعط به من العذرة ويلد به من ذات الجنب
