Hadith 14:78
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us, from Simak, from 'Alqamah ibn Wa'il, from his father, that a man from Khath'am, who was called Suwayd ibn Tariq, asked the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, about wine, and he forbade him from it. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, we only use it for medicine." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "It is a disease and is not a medicine."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا شعبة عن سماك عن علقمة بن وائل عن أبيه أن رجلا من خثعم يقال له سويد بن طارق سأل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عن الخمر فنهاه عنها فقال يا رسول الله إنما نصفها للدواء فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إنها داء وليست بدواء
