Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 36:128

'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, from Dawud, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding the saying: "The multitude will be defeated," he said: "That was on the day of Badr." They said: "We are a multitude, victorious." Then this verse was revealed.
