Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 36:27

Ali ibn Mushir narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Amr, from Abu Salamah, from Amr ibn al-Aas, who said: I did not see the Quraysh intend to kill the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, except for one day when they conspired against him while they were sitting in the shade of the Kaaba, and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was praying at the Maqam (Station of Ibrahim). Uqbah ibn Abi Mu'ayt stood up to him, placed his garment around his neck, and pulled it until he fell to his knees. The people shouted, thinking he was being killed. Abu Bakr came running until he took hold of the upper arms of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, from behind him, saying, "Do you kill a man for saying, 'My Lord is Allah'?" Then they turned away from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, stood up and prayed. When he finished his prayer, he passed by them while they were sitting in the shade of the Kaaba and said, "O assembly of Quraysh, by the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, I have not been sent to you except with slaughter," and he gestured with his hand toward his throat. Abu Jahl said to him, "O Muhammad, you were never one to be ignorant." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "You are one of them."
