Hadith 36:310
Ali bin Hashim narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Layla, from al-Hakam, from Miqsam, from Ibn Abbas, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and his companions arrived during the truce that was before the peace treaty which took place between him and them. He said: The polytheists were at the door of the Dar al-Nadwa, on the side adjacent to the Hijr. They had been saying that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and his companions were suffering from exhaustion and weakness. When they touched [the Black Stone], the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said to them: "They have said that you are suffering from exhaustion and weakness, so trot for three rounds so that they may see that you have strength." He said: When they touched the stone, they lifted their feet and trotted, until some of them said to others: "Did you not claim that they were weak? Yet they are not satisfied with walking, but are running with a run."
