Hadith 36:326

Ubayd Allah ibn Musa narrated to us, he said: Musa ibn Ubaydah informed us, from Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Aslam, from Najiyah ibn Jundub ibn Najiyah, who said: When we were at al-Ghamim, news reached the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) that Quraysh had sent Khalid ibn al-Walid with a detachment of cavalry to intercept the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) disliked meeting them, and he was merciful toward them. He said, "Who is a man who will take us off the path?" I said, "I, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)." He said, "So I took them on a path that was difficult and rugged, with mounds and steep passes, until the ground leveled out for me, and I brought him down at al-Hudaybiyah, and it was parched." He said, "So he cast an arrow or two from his quiver into it, then he spat, then he supplicated." He said, "So its springs returned [to flow], until I would say—or we would say—if we wished, we could have scooped [water] with our drinking vessels."
