Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 36:34

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, from Humayd, from Anas, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was wounded on his face, his incisor tooth was broken, and he was struck by a throw on his shoulder. He began wiping the blood from his face and saying, "How can a nation succeed that has done this to its Prophet, while he is calling them to Allah?" Then Allah revealed: "Not for you is the decision whether He turns in mercy to them or punishes them, for they are indeed wrongdoers."
