Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 36:36

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Al-Hasan ibn Musa al-Ashyab narrated to us, he said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, he said: Thabit informed us, from Anas, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "I was brought Al-Buraq, and it is a white beast, above the donkey and below the mule; it places its hoof at the limit of its sight. So I rode it, and it traveled with me until I came to Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem). I tied the beast to the ring to which the prophets used to tie it. Then I entered and prayed two rak'ahs in it. Then I went out, and Gabriel came to me with a vessel of wine and a vessel of milk, and I chose the milk. Gabriel said: 'You have attained the Fitrah (natural disposition).' He said: Then we ascended to the lowest heaven. Gabriel asked for it to be opened, and it was said: 'Who are you?' He said: 'Gabriel.' It was said: 'And who is with you?' He said: 'Muhammad.' It was said: 'Has he been sent for?' He said: 'He has been sent for.' So it was opened for us, and there I was with Adam. He welcomed me and prayed for good for me. Then we ascended to the second heaven. Gabriel asked for it to be opened, and it was said: 'Who are you?' He said: 'Gabriel.' It was said: 'And who is with you?' He said: 'Muhammad.' It was said: 'Has he been sent for?' He said: 'He has been sent for.' So it was opened for us, and there I was with the two sons of the maternal aunt, Yahya (John) and Isa (Jesus). They welcomed me and prayed for good for me. Then we ascended to the third heaven. Gabriel asked for it to be opened, and it was said: 'Who are you?' He said: 'Gabriel.' It was said: 'And who is with you?' He said: 'Muhammad.' They said: 'Has he been sent for?' He said: 'He has been sent for.' So it was opened for us, and there I was with Yusuf (Joseph), and he had been given half of beauty. He welcomed me and prayed for good for me. Then we ascended to the fourth heaven. Gabriel asked for it to be opened, and it was said: 'Who are you?' He said: 'Gabriel.' It was said: 'And who is with you?' He said: 'Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).' It was said: 'Has he been sent for?' He said: 'He has been sent for.' So it was opened for us, and there I was with Idris (Enoch). He welcomed me and prayed for good for me, then he said: Allah says: 'And We raised him to a high station.' Then we ascended to the fifth heaven. Gabriel asked for it to be opened, and it was said: 'Who are you?' He said: 'Gabriel.' It was said: 'And who is with you?' He said: 'Muhammad.' It was said: 'Has he been sent for?' He said: 'He has been sent for.' So it was opened for us, and there I was with Harun (Aaron). He welcomed me and prayed for good for me. Then we ascended to the sixth heaven. Gabriel asked for it to be opened, and it was said: 'Who are you?' He said: 'Gabriel.' It was said: 'And who is with you?' He said: 'Muhammad.' It was said: 'Has he been sent for?' He said: 'He has been sent for.' So it was opened for us, and there I was with Musa (Moses). He welcomed me and prayed for good for me. Then we ascended to the seventh heaven. Gabriel asked for it to be opened, and it was said: 'Who are you?' He said: 'Gabriel.' It was said: 'And who is with you?' He said: 'Muhammad.' It was said: 'Has he been sent for?' He said: 'He has been sent for.' So it was opened for us, and there I was with Ibrahim (Abraham), and he was leaning against the Much-Frequented House (Al-Bayt al-Ma'mur), which seventy thousand angels enter every day and do not return to it. Then he took me to the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary (Sidrat al-Muntaha). Its leaves were like the ears of elephants, and its fruits were like large jars. When it was covered by what covered it from the command of Allah, it changed, and no one among the creation of Allah can describe it due to its beauty. He said: Then Allah revealed to me what He revealed, and He enjoined upon me fifty prayers every day and night. I descended until I reached Musa, and he said: 'What did your Lord enjoin upon your nation?' I said: 'Fifty prayers every day and night.' He said: 'Return to your Lord and ask Him for a reduction, for your nation cannot bear that. I have tested the Children of Israel and tried them.' He said: So I returned to my Lord and said: 'O Lord, lighten [the burden] for my nation.' So He reduced five from me. I returned to Musa and he said: 'What did you do?' I said: 'He reduced five from me.' He said: 'Your nation cannot bear that, so return to your Lord and ask Him for a reduction for your nation.' I kept returning between my Lord and Musa (peace be upon him), and He would reduce five by five, until He said: 'O Muhammad, they are five prayers every day and night. For every prayer is ten, so that is fifty prayers. Whoever intends a good deed and does not do it, a good deed is written for him; if he does it, ten are written for him. And whoever intends a bad deed and does not do it, nothing is written for him; if he does it, one bad deed is written.' Then I descended until I reached Musa and informed him. He said: 'Return to your Lord and ask Him for a reduction for your nation, for your nation cannot bear that.' The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: 'I have returned to my Lord until I felt shy.'"
