Hadith 36:362

Ibn Idris narrated to us, from Malik ibn Anas, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from his father, who said: I heard Umar saying: "Were it not that the last of the people would be left with nothing, the Muslims would not have conquered a village from the villages of the disbelievers except that I would have divided it among them in shares, just as the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) divided Khaybar in shares. But I wanted it to be an endowment (jiryatan) that flows for the Muslims, and I disliked that the last of the people be left with nothing."
