Hadith 36:375

Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us, he said: Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Abu al-Khalil, from Mujahid, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, arrived on the day of the Conquest, and the idols were between the Corner (al-Rukn) and the Station (al-Maqam). He began to overturn them onto their faces. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, stood as a preacher and said: "Indeed, Makkah is sacred forever until the Day of Resurrection. It was not made lawful for anyone before me, and it will not be made lawful for anyone after me. It was only made lawful for me for an hour of the day. Its vegetation must not be cut, its game must not be startled, its trees must not be felled, and its lost property must not be picked up except by one who announces it." Al-Abbas stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah, except for al-idhkhir (lemon grass), for it is for our craft, our houses, and our graves." He said: "Except for al-idhkhir, except for al-idhkhir."
