Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 36:406

Al-Fadl ibn Dukayn narrated to us, he said: Yunus ibn Abi Ishaq narrated to us, from Abu al-Safar, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) entered Makkah, he called for Shaybah ibn Uthman for the key—the key of the Kaaba. He hesitated. So he (the Prophet) said to Umar: "Stand up and go with him. If he brings it, (well and good), and if not, then strike his head." He said: So he brought it. He said: He turned it over in his lap while Shaybah was standing. He said: Shaybah wept. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Here, take it, for Allah has been pleased with you regarding it in the Jahiliyyah and in Islam."
