Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 36:409

Hafs narrated to us, from Ja'far, from his father, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, commanded that the statues which were around the Ka'bah be effaced on the day of the conquest of Makkah.
