Yunus ibn Muhammad narrated to us, he said: Layth ibn Sa’d narrated to us, from ‘Uqayl, from Ibn Shihab, from ‘Amr ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Umayyah ibn Ya’la ibn Umayyah, that his father informed him that Ya’la said: I came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, with my father, Umayyah, on the day of the Conquest. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, accept the pledge of allegiance from my father for the Hijrah (migration)." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Rather, I will accept his pledge of allegiance for Jihad, for the Hijrah has been cut off."
