'Abd al-Rahim ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from Zakariyya, from al-Sha'bi, who claimed that Ja'far ibn Abi Talib was killed on the day of Mu'tah in al-Balqa'. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O Allah, be the successor to his family with the best of what You have succeeded any of Your righteous servants."
