Hashim narrated to us, Dawud bin ‘Amr informed us, from Bishr bin ‘Ubayd Allah al-Hadrami, from Abu Idris al-Khawlani, ‘Awf bin Malik al-Ashja‘i narrated to us that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) commanded wiping over the leather socks during the expedition of Tabuk for three days and their nights for the traveler, and for one day and one night for the resident.
