Jarir narrated to us, from Mughira, from al-Sha'bi, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) intended to perform the *li'an* (imprecation) with the people of Najran, they accepted the *jizya* (tribute) to give it. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "The bringer of good tidings has come to me regarding the destruction of the people of Najran, had they persisted in the *li'an*, even to the birds on the trees or the sparrows on the trees." And when the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) went out to them in the morning, he took the hand of Hasan and Husayn, and Fatima was walking behind him.
