Waki’ narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu al-Ahwas, from Abdullah, who said: The most perceptive of people are three: Abu Bakr, when he perceived [the character of] Umar and appointed him as his successor; and the woman who said, "Hire him, for the best of those you can hire is the strong and the trustworthy"; and the Aziz [of Egypt], when he said to his wife, "Make his stay honorable."
