Hadith 36:556
Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah, who said: When ‘Uthman was killed, the orators of Iliya’ (Jerusalem) stood up. Then, the last of them, a man from the Companions of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) called Murrah ibn Ka’b, stood up and said: "Were it not for a hadith I heard from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), I would not have stood up. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) mentioned a tribulation—I believe he said: 'He brought it near'—and a man passed by, covered with his garment. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: 'This one and his companions will be upon the truth on that day.' So I went and took hold of his shoulders, and I turned his face toward the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and said: 'This one?' He said: 'Yes.' And behold, it was ‘Uthman."
