Hadith 36:569
Ibn Numayr narrated to us, from Isma'il, from al-Sha'bi, who said: Al-'Abbas went with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to the Ansar. He said: "Speak, and do not prolong the sermon, for there are eyes upon you, and I fear for you the disbelievers of Quraysh." A man among them, whose kunya was Abu Umamah—and he was their orator that day, and he was As'ad ibn Zurarah—spoke and said to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: "Ask for us for your Lord, and ask for yourself, and ask for your companions, and what is the reward for that?" The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "I ask you for my Lord that you worship Him and do not associate anything with Him; and for myself, that you believe in me and protect me as you protect yourselves and your children; and for my companions, [that you provide] support with what you possess." They said: "What will we have if we do that?" He said: "You shall have Paradise from Allah."
