Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 36:6

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu Usamah narrated to us, he said: Mujalid narrated to us, he said: ‘Amir narrated to us, he said: ‘Umar went to the Jews and said: "I adjure you by Allah, who revealed the Torah to Musa, do you find Muhammad in your books?" They said: "Yes." He said: "Then what prevents you from following him?" They said: "Allah did not send a messenger except that he had a guarantor from the angels, and Jibril is the guarantor of Muhammad, and he is the one who comes to him, and he is our enemy among the angels. As for Mika’il, he is at peace with us. If it were Mika’il who came to him, we would have accepted Islam." He said: "I adjure you by Allah, who revealed the Torah to Musa, what is their status with the Lord of the Worlds?" They said: "Jibril is on His right and Mika’il is on His left." ‘Umar said: "I bear witness that they do not descend except by the permission of Allah, and Mika’il would not be at peace with the enemy of Jibril, nor would Jibril be at peace with the enemy of Mika’il." While he was with them, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came. They said: "This is your companion, O Ibn al-Khattab." He stood up and went to him, and there had been revealed to him: "Whoever is an enemy to Jibril, for indeed he has brought it down upon your heart by the permission of Allah," up to His saying: "For indeed, Allah is an enemy to the disbelievers."
