Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 36:72

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Husayn ibn Muhammad narrated to us, he said: Jarir ibn Hazim informed us, from Muhammad ibn Sirin, from Abu Ubaydah ibn Hudhayfah, that a man said: I said, "I will ask about a hadith from Adi ibn Hatim while I am in the vicinity of Kufa, so that I may be the one who hears it from him." So I came to him and said, "Do you recognize me?" He said, "Yes, you are so-and-so, son of so-and-so," and he named him by his name. I said, "Narrate to me." He said: "The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was sent, and I hated it more than I hated anything at all. So I set off until I settled at the furthest part of the Arabs, near the Romans. Then I hated my place more than I hated my first place. I said, 'I will go to this man; if he is a liar, he will not harm me, and if he is truthful, it will not be hidden from me.' So I arrived in Medina, and the people looked up at me and said, 'Adi ibn Hatim has come.' The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'O Adi ibn Hatim, submit (embrace Islam) and you will be safe.' I said, 'I am of a people of a religion.' He said, 'I know your religion better than you do.' I said, 'You know my religion better than I do?' He said, 'Yes, I know your religion better than you do.' I said, 'You know my religion better than I do?' He said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Are you not a Rakusi?' I said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Are you not the leader of your people?' I said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Do you not take the quarter (of the spoils)?' I said, 'Yes.' He said, 'That is not lawful for you in your religion.' So I humbled myself. He said, 'O Adi ibn Hatim, submit and you will be safe, for I do not think—or I suspect—that anything prevents you from submitting except the poverty you see around me, and that you see the people united against us as one body and one hand. Have you been to Al-Hirah?' I said, 'No, but I know its location.' He said, 'It will not be long before a woman travels from Al-Hirah until she circumambulates the House (the Kaaba) without any protection. And the treasures of Chosroes, son of Hormizd, will surely be opened for you.'" He said it three times. "And it will not be long before a man is concerned about who will accept his charity." He said: "And I have seen the woman traveling from Al-Hirah circumambulating the House without any protection. And I was among the first cavalry that raided Al-Mada'in. And the third will surely come; it is the statement of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, which he said to me."
