Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 28:1032

Hafs narrated to us, from Ja'far, from his father, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) held a horse race and set as a prize for it ounces of silver. He also held a camel race, but he did not mention a prize.
