Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Malik narrated to us, from Talha ibn Musarrif al-Yamani, who said: When the Muslims were defeated on the day of Hunayn, they were called out: "O companions of Surah al-Baqarah!" So they returned, and they had *hanin*—meaning weeping.
