Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 28:1088

'Isa ibn Yunus narrated to us, from al-Awza'i, from Qurrah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, from Yazid ibn Abi Habib al-Misri, who said: Abu Bakr or 'Umar—al-Awza'i was uncertain—sent 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir al-Juhani and Maslamah ibn Mukhallad al-Ansari to Egypt. He said: So it was conquered for them. He said: They sent the head of Yunaq, the patrician (al-batriq). When he saw it, he disapproved of that and said: "They do to us the like of this?" He said: "Adopting the ways of Persia and Rome? No head shall be carried to us. It is sufficient for us regarding that, the letter and the report."
