Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 28:125

'Abd al-Rahim ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from Dawud ibn Abi Hind, from Qushayr ibn 'Amr, from Bajala ibn 'Abada al-'Anbari—who was a scribe for Juz' ibn Mu'awiya, and he was over a faction of al-Ahwaz—that he narrated: Abu Musa, while he was the governor of Basra, wrote to us that 'Umar ibn al-Khattab had written to him, commanding him to kill the *Zamazima* (Zoroastrian priests) until they spoke, and that every woman be removed from her harem, and that every sorcerer be killed. So Abu Musa wrote regarding this to Juz' ibn Mu'awiya. He summoned the *Zamazima*, and they spoke. He said: "And when the woman was young, we would remove her from her harem and marry her to another; and when she was an old woman, we would forbid her and restrain her."
