Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 28:13

Abu Usama narrated to us, he said: Burayd ibn Abdullah narrated to us, from Abu Burdah, from Abu Musa, who said: I entered upon the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), I and two men from my cousins. One of the two men said: "O Messenger of Allah, appoint us over some of what Allah has entrusted to you." The other said the same. He (the Prophet) said: "By Allah, we do not appoint to this work anyone who asks for it, nor anyone who is eager for it."
