Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 28:203

Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from Qays ibn Aslam, from Tariq ibn Shihab, who said: The delegation of Buzakha, from Asad and Ghatafan, came to Abu Bakr asking him for peace. Abu Bakr gave them the choice between the "evicting war" or the "humiliating peace." He said: They said, "As for the evicting war, we have known it. So what is the humiliating peace?" He said: Abu Bakr said, "You pay the armor and the horses, and you leave behind people who follow the tails of the camels until Allah shows the successor of His Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the Muslims a matter for which they will excuse you. And you pay blood money for our killed, and we do not pay blood money for your killed; our killed are in Paradise and your killed are in the Fire. And you return what you took from us, and we keep as spoils what we took from you." Then Umar stood up and said, "I have seen an opinion, and we will advise you: Either they pay the armor and the horses, then what a good thing you have seen; or they leave behind people who follow the tails of the camels until Allah shows the successor of His Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the Muslims a matter for which they will excuse them, then what a good thing you have seen; or we keep as spoils what we took from them and they return what they took from us, then what a good thing you have seen; or that their killed are in the Fire and our killed are in Paradise, then what a good thing you have seen; or that we do not pay blood money for their killed, then what a good thing you have seen; or that they pay blood money for our killed, then no—our killed were killed for the command of Allah, so there is no blood money for them." The people then followed him in that.
